Rohit Sharma was last year promoted to the opening position in Test cricket, before that, he played as the middle-order batsman. Like 2013 when he was given an opening position in ODI cricket, he showed his power with the bat in the Test series against South Africa at home. He went to register centuries in the consecutive innings in the first Test match.

In the first innings of the first Test match, the hitman amassed 176 runs and stitched 317 runs partnership with Mayank Agarwal for the first wicket. While chasing India’s 502 runs total, South Africa was all out for 431 runs in the first innings. However, Rohit didn’t stop and played another whirlwind knock of 127 runs in India’s second innings. Eventually, the host won the match by 203 runs.

Before this match, several questions were put up, on his admission as an opener in the Test cricket but Rohit in his own style, silent all the talks.
