MS Dhoni backed Suresh Raina though he didn’t perform: Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh’s other statement which made headlines was MS Dhoni supporting Suresh Raina irrespective of his performance. The sixer king said that Raina was the favourite player of former Indian cricketer, which is why his position was maintained in the team.
Suresh Raina had a larger support then, because MS used to back him. Every captain has a favourite player, and I think Mahi really backed Raina at that time. Yusuf Pathan was also performing well at that time, and even I was doing well and was also picking wickets. And Raina was not in a good touch then. They did not have a left-arm spinner at that time, and I was picking wickets, so they did not have any choice,” Yuvraj maintained.
Raina gave a furious reply to Yuvraj. He said that he got the support of Dhoni because of his talent, which he subsequently paid him back.
“I would say MS definitely supported me, he supported me because he knew I have talent, I’ve done it for him, CSK and Team India, whenever he supported me,” Suresh Raina added.
