Cricketers And Their Favourite Dishes. We know some of our cricket heroes’ love for different cuisines. Their love for different types of food is well known to us. MS Dhoni hit the headlines not so long ago when he left a Hyderabad hotel as the hotel authority did not allow biriyani sent from the home of Ambati Rayudu.

Being vegetarian, Ashwin has very limited options if he is in the middle of a tour. That’s why he prefers just about anything vegetarian though nothing compares with a good dal roti. But his favourite dish is the paneer capsicum his mother makes at home.

The explosive South African batsman has a special love for Pasta and Seafood. He loves to eat Grilled Halibut with Peach and Pepper Salsa. It’s a fresh fruit salsa being a lovely accompaniment to grilled fish in the summer; it can also be tried with striped bass or arctic char. The juiciest peaches pair with fiery habanero pepper for a sweet-spicy flavour.

Biryani continues to be a favourite of Indian cricketers, like Viru. This is what prompted Virender Sehwag to order biryani at midnight after winning the World Cup in 2011. Sehwag’s food habit is just like his batting. “I eat anything and everything,” he says when I ask him about his favourite dish. “I enjoy whatever is served.”

The South Africa-born former England cricketer, unlike his teammates don’t drink. But, he dearly loves Sauvignon blanc Blanc from Malborough, New Zealand as his favourite wine. He also loves Brinkley’s where he have burger and salads. KP loves to enjoy the South African dish biltong.

David Warner

The explosive Australian opener loves to remain busy with a chicken avocado sandwich. Lean chicken makes a great base for the sandwich and Warner combines it with fresh salad ingredients and a little low-fat mayonnaise.

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh still remains a party addict and doesn’t believe in a proper diet. He likes to eat continental dishes, however, hates Chinese food. Yuvi’s favourite dish happens to be matar paneer and kadhi-chawal.

The current Indian limited over the captain, who won the 2007 World T20, ICC World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, is a strong lover of Indian dishes. We know his love for cow milk. His favourites dishes are kababs, chicken butter Marshall naan and chicken tikka pizza.

The cricketing master happens to be a great foodie. His love for different types of dishes is as well known as his variation of batting. He enjoys Pakistani dishes dearly. Sachin once recounted his love for keema parathas and lassi. He loves cooking seafood especially Prawn Masala.

His strong love for Japanese foods, particularly sushi and Sashimi also very well known. Among the Maharashtrian dishes dal chawal mingled with cheese and a dash of lime he enjoys the most.

Virat Kohli      

The flamboyant Delhi batsman has an extreme love for Sushi. It’s a Japanese food consisting of cooked vinegared rice combined with other ingredients such as raw seafood, vegetables and sometimes tropical fruits. Ingredients and forms of sushi presentation vary widely, but the ingredient which all sushi have in common is rice. But Kohli always has a discipline for his fitness, and unlike his funky lifestyle, he refuses to smoke or drink. The most important part of Kohli’s diet is mineral water in order to avoid both minor and moderate diseases and illness. That’s why he is generally seen drinking a lot of water when on tours.

The party lover, the Caribbean big hitter is a fan of Ackee and Saltfish. Salt Fish is fresh fish that has been salt-cured and dried until all the moisture has been extracted. His love for Indian masala foods like keema, biryani, all kinds of nans a well-known fact to us.
