Prince Andrew
The Duke of York was a decent cricketer in his youth, topping the bowling averages for his school, Gordonstoun, in 1979, with 11 wickets for 50 at a rather remarkable average of 4.34. He was also second in the batting 212 runs at 23.55, although the following year’s Wisden does admit that the Scottish school “had an average team and report a difficulty in obtaining good school fixtures. The batting proved adequate but the bowling lacked penetration.” Prince Andrew’s father, the Duke of Edinburgh, was a handy offspinner himself, and was the only man to be president of MCC twice in the 20th century.
