The Nawab of Pataudi Jr
Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who passed way in 2011, was the first Indian captain who utilized his influence of being the Nawab to unite a team which was comprised of players from the different cultures. Pataudi lost vision in one of his eyes in a car accident. He followed the path of his father eight Nawab, as a Test cricketer who had played for England in the Bodyline series and captained India after the second World War. Pataudi Jr was famous among his teammates for never being able to assemble the dressing room door on his way to the crease. Former Australian captain Ian Chappell remembers pressing Pataudi for details of what he did when not playing cricket; eventually, he received the reply, ” Ian, I’m a bloody prince!”
