In a statement on Tuesday morning, Cricket South Africa (CSA) president Chris Nenzani rubbished the reports of a deal with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in exchange of reintegrating Harron Lorgat into top administration.

The statement from CSA read: “Cricket South Africa would like to dismiss a report on the Cricinfo website that suggests that CSA is in the process of concluding a deal with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that will see, among other things, Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat reintegrated into top administration in exchange for CSA supporting the International Cricket Council (ICC) revamped proposal put forward by the BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).”

ESPNCricinfo reports that CSA is thinking about an agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in view of the proposed changes which were brought up last month at the ICC meeting in Dubai. The proposed changes will see an overhaul in ICC structure that will allow the BCCI, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board to assume all the executive powers.

But CSA president Chris Nenzani said: “While we are engaged in discussions with the ICC and other members, including the BCCI, to find an acceptable way forward, we have not and will not consider deals that compromise our key principles and integrity.

“This is a difficult time for global cricket and attempts to mislead and create confusion are not welcome.

“CSA vehemently denies any notion of deals being made with any other party.

“On the contrary we will seek to uphold good governance and our professional approach to find solutions to the current proposals being considered by all the member boards.”

Lorgat, who had a four-year stint as chief executive of the ICC, stepped down form the post in 2012, is believed in power corridors of ICC, to be BCCI’s bête noire.
