ToggleWest Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is back in the yellows of Chennai Super Kings after a gap of two years. The dynamic all-rounder has recovered from his injuries is raring to go in this cash-rich league.
While Bravo expressed his delight to play under MS Dhoni again, he admitted that he is happy with Windies booking a place n the ICC World Cup 2019.
“I honestly believe they deserve to be there despite what’s going on in West Indies cricket. I love to see West Indies compete amongst the best,” Bravo said to Cricbuzz.
Coming back to Chennai is like a homecoming:
The 34-year-old Trinidadian admitted that coming back to Chennai is like a homecoming. Talking about his preparations, Bravo admitted he has taken enough rest and is raring to go.
“Coming to back to Chennai is like homecoming for me. We missed it in the last two years. I was really hoping and praying (during auction) that I come back to Chennai. I’m thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. I didn’t play any cricket after the Big Bash and was resting. I wanted to ensure that I prepare myself mentally and physically so that I can come and give my best for the city and franchise. The people in Chennai suffered for the last two years (without CSK). We are happy that most of us are back. I’m looking forward to the tournament,” he said.
Citing reasons behind West Indies cricketers a big hit in T20 cricket, Bravo feels that they play the cricket in the right spirit with flair and attitude which it demands. He also added that they are natural entertainers who make their fans happy.
CSK is not just a cricket team; it’s like a family:
Bravo admitted that connection between players and management sets apart for Chennai Suoer Kings from other teams. Also, he said that CSK had done a lot for him.
“CSK is not just a cricket team, it’s like a family. Apart from playing in the IPL, players actually keep in touch with each other. The management also keeps in touch with players. Most of my fan following is from India and mostly from Chennai. I can feel the love and appreciation from the fans. It’s a special team. It is being led by the best captain in the world. To play under MS (Dhoni) is a special moment for any player. For me personally, CSK have done a lot. I just enjoy representing the yellow army,” he added.
In conclusion, Bravo said that his team has a perfect blend of experienced and local talents and he is looking forward to working with them.
Meanwhile, CSK will play the season opener against defending champions Mumbai Indians on April 7.
