Indian cricketers who are bound with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings — will land in Chennai today (14th August). The franchise will have a six-day training camp there before travelling the UAE to feature in the league.
As per reported by The Hindu, the players will arrive in two batches — one from Pune while another batch from, CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni‘s home town, Ranchi. The report also stated that all the net bowlers and staff of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) were tested of the COVID-19 and all the tests turned out to be negative.
CSK has always been the first to hold the training camps ahead of the league. Earlier, when the IPL was scheduled from 29th March, the franchise organised the training camp in M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. That training session was attended by MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Ambati Rayudu and other local cricketers. But the coronavirus outbreak led the postponement of the league.
CSK becomes the first to organise training camp:
As now the league is re-scheduled from 19th September, CSK is the early one to gather their players for training camp. Also, the Indian cricketers have not played a competitive match since March so the training camp will help them to get back in the groove.
Earlier, it was reported that CSK has booked a hotel near Burj Khalifa where they will create a bio-secure bubble for the safety of players. They will stay for 53 days until the grand-finale on 10th November. The franchise has also not permitted families of players for the initial phase although BCCI has allowed.
Well, all the eyes will be on MS Dhoni because he would be seen behind the stumps and batting after over a year. As the former Indian captain is silent over his international comeback, it is believed that he would only play IPL for two to three years.
