After losing the finals of World Cup 2015 against Australia on Sunday Daniel Vettori has announced retirement from all forms of Cricket just few moments ago. He ended the 18 year career that began when he was 18. He played 113 Tests and 295 One day Internationals. He picked 13 wickets but was very economical in the entire tournament and was integral member who played a crucial part of helping NewZeleand reaching the finals of the World Cup for the first time.

He has been a role model for cricket and will be missed by the team members. With Brendon Mcllum the captain of the side also heaped praise on the contribution done by Daniel Vettori to World Cricket. He was a lower order batsman who would contribute in a big way to the team cause. In his Test career he has 6 Test centuries and while bowling he has 18 Five or more wicket hauls in his Test career. In One day International cricket he has only 2 Five wicket hauls. His basic strength has been bowling stump to stump and does not give the batsmen the width to hit the strokes.

Vettori is currently the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore and also captained NewZeleand between 2007 and 2011. Vettori also represents Brisbane Heats in the Big Bash League. He retired from One day Internationals and T-20 after the 2011 World Cup but he was called back into the team in ICC Champions Trophy 2013. He retired from his final test match for emergency injury cover against Pakistan in 2014.

His best figure in test matches has been 7/87 against Australia while in One day Internationals his best figures were 5/7 against Bangladesh in 2007. His role as cricketer for NewZeleand has been great and coming to finals of World Cup was a dream for Daniel Vettori. He would look forward in the Indian Premier League to coach Royal Challengers Bangalore and help the young Indian bowlers to train them the skills of spin bowling. Vettori has been a source of inspiration for all young cricketers who want to take the game as a profession.
