South Africa Cricket team have released their star fast bowler Dale Steyn from the squad meaning that he will not be a part of the one-off T20I series against Australia at Gold Coast.
Meanwhile, Steyn has already departed from Australia and returned to South Africa. However, there are no injury worries with the pacer, but Steyn is returning to take part in the Mzansi Super League and play for the Cape Town Blitz.
The Blitz takes on the Tshwane Spartans in their first match of the tournament on Friday, but Dale Steyn will not be available for that match. He is likely, however, to feature in Sunday’s clash against the Durban Heat at Kingsmead.
Steyn finished the three-match ODI series against Australia getting through 27 overs and picking up seven wickets at just 13.42 with an economy rate of 3.48. In the process, he has rediscovered his best form and has thrown himself firmly into next year’s World Cup mix.
Meanwhile, South Africa dominated the Aussies to beat them 2-1 in the ODI series. Australia fought their way back in the second game after a six-wicket thumping in the first game. The hosts held nerves to win the second encounter by seven runs but once again lost the plot to lose the series 2-1. However, they will look to seek redemption in the only T20I ahead of the important series against India across formats.
