South African premier fast bowler Dale Steyn has wished his English counterpart James Anderson ahead of Lord’s test. The 35-year old is on the cusp of becoming the third pace bowler ever to reach 500 test wickets milestone.

Anderson has been one of the most lethal test bowlers of all time and played a huge role in the resurgence of England to the top. He, along with Stuart Broad have formed a backbone to English bowling over the past decade and took their game to a new level in tandem.

Dale Steyn, who is close to making a comeback to the national team, is a bowler of his level. He is considered by many as the best bowler of this generation, but injuries hampered his career over the past three to four years.

The 34-year South African was one of the first players to wish his compatriot on his achievement as he wished for Anderson to reach 500 wicket milestone when England faces West Indies in Lords for the third and final test.

Dale Steyn’s tweet read: “Good read. Good luck Jimmy at Lords. History beckons #500”

Anderson is currently on 497 wickets in 128 tests and would need just three more wickets in the final test against West Indies. He is one of the most experienced players in English squad alongside former skipper Alastair Cook.

The 6ft 2 in Lancashire, who started his test career in 2003 will now be remembered as arguably the best English bowler of all time for his immense contributions to the national team over the past 14 years. He might end up close to some other greats in the coming years as Anderson revealed that he is keen to pay for at least four years.
