Jagmohan Dalmiya keen on making Sourav Ganguly the head of technical committee
Moments after Jagmohan Dalmiya was elected to supercede N.Srinivasan as the president of BCCI, Dalmiya expressed his ardent desire to hook-in former skipper Sourav Ganguly into the BCCI bureaucratic fold.
Dalmiya, who has promulgated his victory as a step taken towards cleansing the game and expunging the nuisances of spot fixing and betting, has always had a soft corner for the former Indian captain, and the duo’s term as BCCI president and Indian captain had witnessed a pathbreaking transformation of Indian cricket, with India significantly improving its overseas performances and becoming a real formidable team.
Dalmiya wants to appoint Ganguly as the chief of the technical committee, which is currently spearheaded by legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble. It has been learnt that some BCCI members imminently requested Dalmiya to let Kumble continue for the six coming months as elections were impending thereafter.
Ganguly however, has not exuded any interest in replacing Kumble. He said that he would converse with Mr. Dalmiya regarding the rame and request him to let Anil continue till his term expired. He also expressed no keenness in replacing him immediately and has assured that he would strongly refute the offer as he considered Anil a revered colleague and cricketer. Apart from Dalmiya, who is currently 74 years old, the other new entrant is Anurag Thakur who defeated Sanjay Patel for the secretary’s post.
