Brian Lara’s cousin as well as Dwayne Bravo’s half-brother, Darren Bravo entered the international scene with some huge expectations because of the tags associated with his name. The hype surrounding him only increased when people saw the left-handed batsman imitating the great Brian Lara while batting.
Well, the 28-year old still has a long way to go before he even comes close to the achievements of his illustrious cousin. But the southpaw is making sure to take Lara’s inputs whenever required as he eyeing representing West Indies is 100 Tests.

In a freewheeling chat with ESPNcricinfo, Bravo recalled his first meeting with the former West Indies skipper and how the latter’s advise always helps him whenever he is need of runs.
“The first time I remember meeting Brian Lara was when he broke the world record the first time – the 375. They were opening the Brian Lara ground in Santa Cruz. We were all there waiting on him,” he said.
Other than being a world-class batsman, what I most admire about him is the fact that when I am not doing well at my game, I can pick up my phone to message or call him and he is always willing to give advice. Whenever he gives me advice, I am guaranteed to score runs in the next innings. He is always my go-to guy when I am under pressure. On any given day, he will just message to find out if everything is okay, not only cricket-related. He is always looking out for me and I appreciate that,” he added.

The West Indies star further revealed the milestone he wants to achieve in international cricket.
“Before I started playing, my goal was to play 100 Test matches, which is something I want to achieve,” he revealed.
Bravo went on to share his funniest incident on the cricket field which happened during a Test against India when a groundsman fainted while the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was on the field to bat.
I think it was a water break and I believe Sachin [Tendulkar] was batting. One of the groundsmen came to paint the crease. I am not sure whether he was seeing Sachin close-up for the first time, but he actually fainted on the field,” Bravo recalled.
