Australia’s Head Coach Darren Lehmann is all set to skip the upcoming India tour of Australia in the quest to prepare for the Ashes series. Lehmann was with the team in Bangladesh but has flown to Australia. The members of Australian Test team, who are a part of series against India, are set to land in the country in batches. They will be staying in Chennai before the start of the series and will also play a practice game in the state.

It is not the first when Lehmann has decided to skip a series to focus on Ashes as previously as well, he missed Australia tour of India for the same reason. David Saker is expected to take over the duties of Head Coach in the absence of the regular man. As expected, Sridhar Sriram is all set to continue his association with the Australian team in sub-continent. He was there with the team in Bangladesh and will be here in India as well. He has been the go to an for Australia whenever they travel to sub-continent countries.
Meanwhile, BCCI finally confirmed the venues for Australia series. The ODI series will kick off on September 17 with the first game to be played in Chennai. The action will then move to Kolkata, where the preparations are being made to host the ODI. Indore, Bengaluru, and Nagpur will host the rest of the three ODIs. A three match TT20I series will follow ODI series. Ranchi, Guwahati, and Hyderabad will host the T20I matches respectively.
The Indian squad for the series will be announced next week. Selectors are likely to retain the same team which traveled to Sri Lanka for ODIs. Though there might be few changes in the T20I squad with players like Ashish Nehra and Rishab Pant coming back in the team.
