Dave Cameron To Be Elected As WICB Chairman In Succession
The highly controversial and criticized Dave Cameron is set to be re-elected as the chairman of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for third time in succession. From sources close to the troubled cricket board, it has been discovered that Cameron will take over unopposed and has the backing of all key members within the board.
It must be noticed that Cameron has often been cited as the reason behind West Indies’ extremely poor performance since the last couple of years. As a matter of fact, the chairman of the WICB was openly criticized by the World T20 winning West Indies team as several individuals spoke out openly against the Board President.
After the West Indies defeated England at Kolkata in the World T20 final, skipper Darren Sammy was scathing in criticism directed towards Cameron. Star batsman Darren Bravo too openly criticized Cameron recently on social media, a move for which he was sent home from the Tri-Series in Zimbabwe.
“The Corporate Secretary, Verlyn Faustin, confirmed that Cameron and Nanthan were the only two nominees received for the posts of president and vice president respectively,” the WICB said.
“Both Cameron and Nanthan have already served two year terms in the respective positions. The posts will be ratified at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) also due on the same day. The election and AGM are scheduled for Antigua.”
