David Warner Not Too Worried About Sanction On Bat Sizes 1

With the MCC recently announcing their latest reforms in relation to sanctioning the width of bat sizes, it was thought that several batsmen of the modern era would feel a tad dejected. Owing to some chunky willows these days, even a mistimed hit travels all the way and sails well past the boundary ropes. These heavy and dynamic bats have been a big reason behind the game being biased in favor of the batsmen today.

Australian opener and destruction machine David Warner is one such individual who possesses a big bad willow. Warner’s bat is massive and quite thick and it is no secret that Warner’s timing is equally integrated with the size of his bat. The opener, who is currently preparing for the third Test against India at Ranchi, spoke about the rule change and wasn’t too worried about the sanctions on new bat sizes.

“We’re just going to have to adapt to the changes,” Warner said with a hint of confidence.

“The ball will still go the same distance, still go to the fence, we’ll still get our ones and twos. The odd nick might not carry this time.

“We put a whole range of bats from when I first started and when others started,” Warner said.

“I’m not sure if they were the correct measurements but they weren’t going through the measurement gauge that they’re doing.

“The bat manufacturers have to govern that as well.

“We have to use whatever the bat-maker brings us,” the southpaw CONCLUDED.
