Dawid Malan is set to take part in England’s seven-match T20I series against Pakistan from September 20 onwards. Lahore and Karachi will host the limited-overs matches.

England batter Dawid Malan reckoned that Pakistan wouldn’t be an easy opposition to beat in the latter’s backyard. The Three Lions and Pakistan are all set to lock horns in a seven-match T20I series, starting Tuesday, September 20.

Dawid Malan Reckons Pakistan Has Got All The Bases Covered

Pakistan will go into the series after finishing as the runners-up in the Asia Cup 2022, where they lost to Sri Lanka in the final in Dubai. As far as Dawid Malan is concerned, having already played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he has a fair idea of the conditions in the Asian country.

“Pakistan, out here, is a fantastic team. They have got all the bases covered. For many of us, it’s the first time in Pakistan and, for others, we have been here a couple of times. It’s about us sharing the experience of the wickets and conditions and giving as much knowledge to the rest of the guys who haven’t been here,” Dawid Malan was quoted as saying in a press conference.

Dawid Malan has played for Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. The England cricket team has reached Pakistan for the historic 7-match T20I series. The series is England’s first tour of Pakistan in 17 years; as England last visited Pakistan in 2005.

Dawid Malan and Phil Salt, two explosive batsmen, are among the English players who played in the PSL before making their international debut for England. Opener Alex Hales and all-rounder Liam Dawson also have been featured many times in the PSL representing different franchises.

A 20-member squad is led by Jos Buttler whereas Moeen Ali will be deputizing him as vice-captain. Five uncapped players have also been included in the English squad for the tour to Pakistan: batsmen Jordan Cox and Will Jacks alongside seamers Tom Helm, Olly Stone, and Luke Wood.

“Lahore and Karachi have different wickets. Karachi can be skiddy while Lahore can be bouncy and a bit stickier. It’s always a challenge playing against Pakistan,” he added.

The National Stadium in Karachi will host the first four matches from September 20 to September 25, after which the last three games will take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from September 28 to October 2. England will also return to Pakistan to play a three-match Test series in December to be played in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi.

Alex Hales, who last played for England in 2019, has been added to the England squad as a replacement for wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow, who sustained an injury while playing golf that has ruled him out of action for the immediate future.
