  1. Birthday – Anton Murray

Way back in 1922, one of the most successful all-rounders for South Africa, Anton Murray was born on this day.

A more than decent lower order batsman and a smart and wily medium pace bowler, Murray in just his second test match in 1952-53 scored a massively important half-century to take his side home in a shocking game at Melbourne.

In the same season, Murray scored a century and picked 5 for 49 off 51 against New Zealand in arguably his best performance for his country. He sadly passed away in 1995 in Cape Town.
