Born on this day in 1905, Keeton was one of the highest run-getters in England’s first-class arena with over 20,000 runs in his career.
A classy player who could tear apart the opposition, Keeton made his debut for England in test matches against Australia in 1934 played another game only 5 years later against West Indies. In the same year, he scored his highest first class career score of 312 and was named the Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1940.
He also played professional football for Premier League clubs Sunderland and Nottingham Forest in his career. He sadly passed away in 1980.
