- Viv Richards’ first failure:
Arguably one of the greatest players to have ever played the game, Sir Vivian Richards was one of the most consistent batsmen of all time.
His batting average over a period of 17 years was around the 50 mark and at his time, there were bowlers who were scared to run up to him. Back in 1991 in the 5th test of Australia’s tour of West Indies, Viv Richards, for the first time in his career, went back to the pavilion without scoring a run. This was something that never happened before and the 2 runs he scored in the second innings made sure it never happened again.
In spite of this series, Viv Richards averages 61 runs every innings in his own backyard.
