- Birthday- VK Ramaswamy (Umpire):
Born in Madras, Ramaswamy worked for the Indian Railways back in his day and umpired in the first-class matches in the 1970’s.
He made his international debut in a game between India and West Indies at Vadodara in 1983 and went on to officiate in 26 Test matches and 43 ODI’s most of them in India. he umpired the 5th Test between India and Pakistan at Bangalore in March 1987, which incidentally was Sunil Gavaskar’s last Test match in his career.
His last test match was between India and England in January 2002 and he has ever since turned into a writer for various sports websites. He is one of the first officials from India to reach a national status.
