The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has added another stigma to its name as its joint secretary Vivek Gupta was not allowed to attend the BCCI Working Committee as he went there uninvited.
The DDCA is facing an image crisis as they failed to give a financial sheet to BCCI of their spending. BCCI every year give fund to his every unit for the development of the game and infrastructure. But DDCA has failed to complete renovation of Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and failed to change the spectators’ experience of watching the game. At the stadium cricket writer often give a bad review to the stadium as the DDCA didn’t do anything for spectators’ amenities.
According to a source, it was known that no DDCA office bearers asked Gupta to attend the BCCI meeting in Dharmsala but he went in Dharamsala along with an office bearer of the BCCI.
However, as per the rules, the DDCA is a permanent Test match host so it can have a representative at the Working Committee meeting .
As CK Khanna, who is the vice president of the Central Zone , is a permanent invitee so the DDCA doesn’t need to send anyone.
The DDCA too are baffled by Gupta’s decision to visit the conclave without informing anybody in the Delhi cricket board.
“I never authorized Vivek Gupta on behalf of DDCA to attend the meeting. I don’t know anything as no letter was written by me,” DDCA general secretary Anil Khanna told PTI.
When asked why did he go there Gupta failed to give any convincing reply. “I went there for sightseeing,” was all Gupta said before he snapped the call.
Later it was learned that Gupta tried to check in the “ hotel pavilion” in Dharamsala, where all the officials were booked to stay, he was informed that his name is not on the list of borders.
“Gupta tagged along with a senior BCCI office-bearer, who had promised him that if he could attend the meeting, his DA and TA would be paid by BCCI. But it was embarrassing as his name was not on the BCCI’s list of state association representatives and he was not eligible to attend the WC meeting. Over and above, he also had to pay his own hotel bills,” a BCCI official, who was present there, said.
