DDCA makes a gaffe about Sehwag in the achievements column
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) recently named the Gate no 2 of Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium after former India opener Virender Sehwag as the Virender Sehwag Gate. The gate was inaugurated today in the presence of Virender Sehwag along with the Indian team who is currently in Delhi to play the first T20 match against the Kiwis. However, in the achievements column, DDCA mentioned that Sehwag is the only Indian player to score a triple century in Test cricket, while he is not the only one. The Karnataka batsman, Karun Nair also scored a triple hundred in his first Test series against England last year in Chennai.

However, Sehwag was the only Indian to score two triple hundreds in his career. The cricketer from Delhi thanked everyone and said that it was a great honour to have a game named after him on a ground where he has played a lot of cricket in his younger days while addressing the media.
“It is a great honor and today we have a gate named after a cricketer but later we can have a dressing room, stands and other things named after cricketers. It’s a good thing and positive move from DDCA. I had a wish that whenever such a function happens, we should call all the cricketers who have represented Delhi and India,” the swashbuckling cricketer said.
Former India cricketer and currently the head of DDCA cricket affairs, Madan Lal applauded the cricketer for his contribution to Indian cricket and called him as a game-changer. He also praised Sehwag for bringing a change in the way how it is played. He cited that team earlier used to score 250-60 but he has shown how to score 350-60.
The cricketer from Delhi in his speech said that this gate would work as a motivation for the young cricketers.
”Any young cricketer will get motivated reading the name. Virender Sehwag played here as a kid and when he left there is a gate named after him so if I can also play for U19, U16, U23 or Ranji for Delhi and then represent India, then a gate, stand or something will be after my name,” the former opening batsman signed off.”
The Nawab of Najafgarh has represented India in 104 Test matches and 251 ODI’s scoring 8586 and 8273 runs respectively. He is the only player in India to score a triple century in Test cricket and a double century in ODI cricket.
