DDCA Urges Delhi HC To Not Accept Replies Of Arvind Kejriwal, Kirti Azad In Defamatory Case 1

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has urged the Delhi High Court to not consider the replies of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Member of Parliament Kirti Azad as they have missed the deadline to reply.

Both Kejriwal and Azad are currently facing defamation as they made critical comments on the functioning and finances of the cricket body. The DDCA has moved to High Court to file a petition on defamation on both the politicians.

The Cricket Board claims that Arvind Kejriwal has submitted his reply 16 days late while Azad managed to produce his reply after only 70 days from the given deadline.

High Court’s Joint Registrar Anil Kumar Sisodia, who is looking over the procedural aspects of the court, has revealed that a final decision on the whether the replies will be considered or not will be made on February 3.

The board has filed the case in the court on March 2 last year and the court has decided to give a time of 30 days to Kejriwal and Azad to reply to the case. However, both the politicians have delayed their reply as their counsels claim that they were busy.

DDCA had earlier alleged that Kejriwal “with prior motive, indulged in certain false, shocking, scandalous, defamatory, baseless, slanderous, malicious, disgraceful and outrageous statements which are defamatory against them”.

The DDCA are clearly not happy with the comments made by the two politicians as the board claims there has been a serious impact on their image in the public.

Should Aravind Kejriwal and Azad should lose the case, they will have to pay 2.5 Crore INR each to the cricket board.
