There is no dearth of MS Dhoni’s lover. Some are fans of his top-notch captaincy skills or some admire his miraculous game while some are addicted to his looks. Several former cricketers and present cricketers have sung praises of Dhoni. Former Australia Dean Jones is also one of them.

In the recent interaction, Jones has opened up on why he is a fan of the former Indian captain. He has also revealed the favourite moment of MS Dhoni, which is interestingly not related to any of Dhoni’s match-winning innings.

Dean Jones has been a cricket commentator and pundit during MS Dhoni’s international cricket career. So, he has closely monitored the wicketkeeper-batsman when he was rising in the ranks. While speaking to Hindustan Times, the Aussie said that he believes that Dhoni would play in the World Cup, provided if he performs amazingly than his peers in IPL 2020.

Meanwhile, Dhoni last played for Team India in the upsetting semi-final against New Zealand during the World Cup 2019. He has been not seen in action for over a year. The Ranchi-star will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL starting from 19 September.

Dean Jones reveals that he is a huge fan of MS Dhoni. He said that Dhoni is among the top six greatest cricketers of all time for India. As per him, CSK skipper will prepare himself to absolute perfection to get himself ready for the IPL which will open doors for him in the national team.

“Look I am a huge MS Dhoni fan. I think he is among the top 6 greatest cricketers of all time for India. If he has a good IPL and the other boys don’t then come the World Cup he might be looked at.

“So, it’s a big opportunity and knowing MS he will prepare himself to absolute perfection to get himself ready for this and I hope he does well,” Jones told Hindustan Times during an exclusive conversation.

Jones believes Dhoni has the rare ability to keep the audience on edge due to his unpredictability both as a leader and as a batsman and that is what makes him an entertainer.

“What he does is he makes past players like myself and people to just move forward in their seats and watch how he goes about his cricket. There aren’t too many players who could do that. If you have gone to watch a match and MS is playing, people are always on the edge of their seats because they don’t know what he is going to do next.

“He is a great entertainer and I hope he will have a great IPL because I am looking forward to how he plays,” Jones said.

When asked about MS Dhoni’s favourite moment, Dean recalled that the 2006 ODI match when the then president Pervez Musharaff said Dhoni that he liked his long hair cut.

“Probably the hair cut in Pakistan. I was commentating and President Musharraf told him to keep the hair cut and said he looked good in it. He is that style of player that even presidents and prime ministers talk about him because he really captivates everyone,” Jones said.

Dhoni, who has given three ICC trophies to Indian cricket, has been silent over his comeback in international cricket. However, the speculations of his retirement never die.
