The Indian pacer Deepak Chahar, who has recovered from the injury, recently talked about the differences between the top Indian captains Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
The 27-year-old Deepak Chahar made his international debut in 2018 and has played 13 international matches (three ODIs and 10 T20Is). In his initial short international career, Chahar has taken 19 wickets (two ODI wickets and 17 T20I wickets), including a T20I hat-trick and claiming the record of best T20I bowling figures (6/7).
In his international career, Chahar made T20I debut under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and ODI debut under MS Dhoni’s leadership. Apart from playing only ODI under Dhoni-led India, Chahar has played nine limited-overs matches under Kohli-led India and three T20Is under Rohit Sharma-led India.
Moreover, Chahar made his IPL debut under Dhoni’s captaincy (for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016). While the pacer served for the same team in the next season, which was led by Steven Smith, he is now serving for Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2018 season.
Virat Kohli is very aggressive: Deepak Chahar
While Chahar has closely observed all of their leaderships, recently he spoke about the nature of these three skippers. Unsurprisingly, he mentioned Kohli as a very aggressive captain who leads from the front and inspires others to give 100 per cent.
Chahar told IANS, “Virat is very aggressive and when you see him on the field, you automatically get energetic. He leads from the front, be it with his batting or on the field. When you see him giving his 110 per cent, you automatically give your 100 per cent.”
Rohit Sharma remains very calm and composed: Deepak Chahar
Talking about the leadership quality of Rohit Sharma, Chahar mentioned his calmness who always backs his players to build confidence.
Chahar claimed, “In Rohit’s case, he remains very calm and composed and shows you that he trusts you. So when the captain remains calm and backs you, you also start excelling as you feel that confidence rubbing off on you.”
MS Dhoni’s cricketing knowledge is unbelievable: Deepak Chahar
Mentioning Dhoni’s coolness, Chahar praised his incredible cricket knowledge who reads the game very well and guides the players according to the situation.
The pacer said, “As for Mahi bhai, we all know how cool he is. His cricketing knowledge is unbelievable. Having captained for so long, he can pre-empt what is going to happen and how one should react to a situation. Also, he knows how to use his players and I feel that is the biggest skill of a captain. If you can bring the best out of your player knowing his area of strength, then nothing beats that. And Mahi bhai can do that and that is why he has achieved what he has. He just knows how to get the best out of you.”
Deepak Chahar hasn’t played a recognised cricket match since last December. At first, he had the stress fracture, which forced him to go off the field for three-four months. When he recovered fully, the coronavirus pandemic has forced to delay his return on the field due to the postponement of cricket events.
