Deepak Chahar will be available to play the IPL after all. It was learnt that the pacer won’t have to undergo surgery, as suggested initially, following a quadricep tear that he sustained during the limited-overs series against West Indies. It’s understood that the CSK pacer is likely to be fit to play by the middle of April.

He is currently undergoing an eight-week rehabilitation program at the NCA in Bangalore. But the franchise, which has already started its preparations for the IPL later this month, wants the pacer to join their camp in Surat sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Deepak Chahar Won’t Undergo Surgery But Would Undergo An 8 Week Rehabilitation At NCA

The franchise wants to monitor the pacer’s fitness and get him ready to play as soon as possible. CSK, who start their campaign against KKR on March 26, have pinned a lot of hope on the pacer, for whom they had to shell out big money during the auction.

After the initial MRI scans, it was suggested that Deepak Chahar should undergo surgery. But with the T20I World Cup in Australia later this year, the Rajasthan pacer himself didn’t want to go under the knife. Had he undergone the operation, Deepak Chahar would have been out for a longer time and his hopes of playing the 2022 T20I World Cup would have taken a beating.

After later consultations, the eight-week rehab was suggested and CSK, too, on their part, breathed a sigh of relief. Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring issue during the 3rd T20I against West Indies on February 20. The right-arm pacer was completing the 2nd over of his spell when he stopped midway.

Deepak Chahar had re-joined Chennai Super Kings for a mega sum of Rs 14 crores. He emerged as the 2nd costliest pick of the IPL 2022 mega auction and drew bids from as many as 4 franchises.  Apart from CSK, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) were keen to get his services. The pacer will miss three T20Is against Sri Lanka.

Josh Little Roped In By CSK As A Net Bowler For Upcoming IPL 2022

Ireland pacer Josh Little has been roped in by CSK as a net bowler for the upcoming IPL. Less than three weeks ahead of the IPL 2022 season, the IPL defending champions have roped in Ireland’s left-arm fast bowler Josh Little as a net bowler.

“Congrats to Josh Little who is heading off on a development opportunity with the Chennai Super Kings in the early stages of the upcoming IPL. The experience as a net bowler for CSK should be fantastic,” Cricket Ireland tweeted.
Josh Little, 22, made his international debut for Ireland in September 2016 in a T20I against Hong Kong; but failed to get a wicket. However, he was more impressive in his first ODI appearance, where he picked up four wickets against England, including the dismissal of captain Eoin Morgan. His figures read 8-0-45-4.

Josh Little also played in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2021, where he was Ireland’s pick of the bowlers in the final. He returned excellent figures of 4-1-17-2 against the UAE, albeit it came in a losing cause.

Overall, he took seven wickets in five matches at an average of 16.71, maintaining an economy rate of an impressive 5.85. So far, he has taken 30 wickets in ODIs and 31 wickets in T20Is. In his last 10 T20Is, he has taken 13 wickets, with best figures of 4-23.
