Nineteen year old, Aakash from South-West locality in Delhi has allegedly killed his friend by hitting him on the head with a cricket bat following a heated argument between the two.
The incident happened at a park in southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur area while playing cricket, the police confirmed. The deceased seventeen-year-old Shivam lost his life because the ball he hit while batting stuck Aakash while fielding.
Since Shivam did not apologize for the incident, 19-year old Aakash has got furious and took a spare bat and hit Shivam on the head which led to the disastrous event.
Aakash along with the other two friends got nervous about the incident and took Shivam to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where Shivam was declared brought dead.
The matter was reported on Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm to the police as the four people played cricket while the incident happened. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered and Akash was arrested.
“The deceased was batting. The ball hit Akash and he started crying. A verbal altercation began and Akash smashed Shivam’s head with a spare bat. Shivam collapsed on the spot,” DCP southwest, Surender Singh said.
A similar incident happened earlier this year when a doctor was killed just after India won the cricket match against Bangladesh. These kind of incidents are turning the cricket’s name as gentlemen’s game to an ugly one.
