Delhi Capitals Playing 11 (DC Playing XI) & Chennai Super Kings Playing 11 (CSK Playing XI), IPL 2024, Match 13: Delhi Capitals (DC) will be taking on reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 13th game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The DC vs CSK game is scheduled to be played at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (March 31).
While DC will be eyeing their first win of the season, CSK will be looking to extend their winning star. DC have started their campaign with two losses in a row. In their last game, they suffered a loss against Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, CSK have started their journey with wins over Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Before the game gets underway, we are taking a look at the probable playing elevens of both the teams.
DC Playing XI:
Openers: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh
David Warner and Mitchell Marsha are set to open the innings for DC and the onus will be on them to give their under-pressure team a good start. In the last game, Marsh scored a quickfire 23 before being dismissed while Warner scored 49 and was DC’s top-scorer.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Sumit Kumar
With Ricky Bhui failing for the second time in a row, Prithvi Shaw could finally play his first game in IPL 2024. He could also be asked to open the innings and Marsh could bat at number three. Captain Rishabh Pant will be eyeing a big score after scoring 28 in the last game.
Tristan Stubbs played an unbeaten knock of 44 in the last game and will be looking to continue the same form. Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 15 and picked up 1 wicket for 21 off his four overs. Sumit Kumar did not get the chance to bat or bowl in the last game.
Bowlers:
Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar
DC are likely to play the game with three frontline pacers and one spinner. Barring Khaleel Ahmed, the other three bowlers were very expensive against RR. While Khaleel conceded 24 runs in his four overs, Anrich Nortje and Mukesh Kumar gave away 48 and 49 runs respectively. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav also conceded 41 runs.
CSK Playing XI:
Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Rachin Ravindra
Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra had good outings with the bat in the last game against GT. Rachin gave CSK another quick start by smashing 46 runs off just 20 balls while Gaikwad scored 46 off 36 balls. They also shared a 62-run stand for the first wicket.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi , MS Dhoni (wk)
Ajinkya Rahane failed to get going against GT and was out for just 12 but is likely to retain his spot. Shivam Dube scored a fine 51 off just 23 balls while Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten on 24. Sameer Rizvi gave a glimpse of his immense talent by hitting Rashid Khan for two sixes in the 19th over while Ravindra Jadeja faced only 3 balls.
Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Mustafizur Rahman
With the ball, Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande picked up two wickets each while also being economical.
