Delhi Capitals Playing 11 (DC Playing XI) & Kolkata Knight Riders Playing 11 (KKR Playing XI), IPL 2024, Match 16: Delhi Capitals (DC) will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 16th game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The DC vs KKR game is scheduled to be played at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (April 3).
DC will be eyeing their second win of IPL 2024 when they take on unbeaten KKR. DC started their campaign with losses against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals before beating reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in their last game to open their account in IPL 2024.
On the other hand, KKR have started their campaign with two wins. In the first game, they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs while defending 208 before inflicting a seven-wicket defeat on Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they chased down 183 inside 17 overs. DC Playing XI:
Openers: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner
After warming the bench in the first two games, Prithvi Shaw got a chance in the playing eleven for DC’s third game and grabbed the opportunity with both hands by scoring 43. He also shared a crucial 93-run stand with fellow opener David Warner who scored 52. Warner and Shaw are expected to open the innings against KKR as well.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Tristan Stubbs, Abishek Porel, Axar Patel
While Mitchell Marsh (18) and Tristan Stubbs (0) did not have the best of outings against CSK, Rishabh Pant led his team from the very front by playing a match-winning knock of 51. Axar Patel and Abishek Porel remained unbeaten on 7 and 9 respectively.
Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Barring Anrich Nortje, DC’s frontline bowlers had good outings against CSK. Mukesh Kumar picked up 3 wickets for 21 while Khaleel Ahmed claimed two for 21. Ishant Sharma did not pick up any wicket but gave away only 23 runs in his 3 overs. On the other hand, Nortje conceded 43 runs in his 4 overs but is expected to retain his spot.
KKR Playing XI:
Openers: Philip Salt (wk), Sunil Narine
Phil Salt and Sunil Narine gave KKR a whirlwind start against RCB in the last game. While Salt set the tone by hitting Mohammed Siraj and for two sixes and a four in the very first over, Narine took charge for the rest of the powerplay. Narine smashed 47 off just 22 and shared an 86-run stand with Salt.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (c), Ramandeep Singh , Rinku Singh, Andre Russell
KKR’s middle-order had a good outing against RCB as well. After failing to do well in the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, both Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer impressed. While Venkatesh scored 50, Shreyas remained unbeaten on 39. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 5 while Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh did not get the chance to bat. Russell picked up two wickets.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Anukul Roy, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy
Mitchell Starc’s poor start in IPL 2024 continued as he gave away 47 runs and remained wicketless while Harshit Rana picked up two wickets. Anukul Roy bowled two tidy overs, giving away just 6 sixes while Varun Chakravarthy conceded 20 in 2.
