Amit Mishra, who has been playing for Delhi Capitals since 2015, has praised Ricky Ponting’s ‘amazing’ man management in the franchise. He said that DC’s team environment is positive because of the former Australian cricketer.
Ricky Ponting joined Delhi Capitals in 2018. Under his coaching, the franchise for the first time in the IPL history reached the playoffs last season albeit could not grab the place in the finale. In the ongoing season, they have started their campaign with two consecutive remarkable victories. Seeing their performances, Delhi Capitals are a strong contender for lifting the coveted trophy.
Amit Mishra has given all credit to Ricky Ponting for taking the team to next level. He lauded Ponting’s coaching style. The Indian cricketer said that being a player himself, the Aussie understood players’ mentality and knew how to tackle them.
Mishra added that Ponting boosted up and kept the players grounded which is an important characteristic of him.
“Ricky Ponting has himself played cricket for so many years that he is aware of all his players’ mentality and knows how and when to talk to cricketers about something which is a very important coaching characteristic to have.
“If a player is getting overconfident, Ricky would remind them to not be so and if a player is low, Ponting would make sure he boosts them up and he knows exactly what to say,” Mishra said about Ponting, when asked about head coach Ponting’s man-management skills by India Today, in a pre-match press conference.

According to Amit Mishra, the most notable quality of Ricky Ponting is that he is a positive speaker and don’t put negative aspects in front of players. He said that the World Cup winner was of jolly nature and has a positive aura which is amazing about him.
“The best thing about him is he is a positive speaker, never heard him saying a single negative thing. Hence, the team atmosphere has had a positive impact because of him. Whenever such a huge star becomes a part of the camp, many a times, a rift can be caused but Ponting is someone who is very jolly and talk to everyone with a very positive aura and that’s amazing about his man-management,” he said.
After registering a victory against KXIP and CSK, Delhi Capitals will face SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday (September 29) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
