Despite Win, Virat Kohli Still Needs Improvement In Captaincy, Says Sunil Gavasakar 1
Virat Kohli still needs some improvement in his captaincy in order to grab more success in Tests.

Former India captain Sunil Gavsaskar is anything but content with Virat Kohli’s leadership skills, saying the Indian batting star still needs to make few more adjustments if he wishes to see India performing well for long in Tests.

India’s win over England in the Mumbai Test by an innings and 36 runs had largely to do with Virat Kohli’s record breaking 235 in the first Innings. The captain led from the front and smashed his third double hundred in 2016, also his highest score in Tests.

Collecting accolades for his masterful captaincy, which is backed by 13 wins and just two losses so far, Virat seem to have left a loophole in the chase to impress Sunil Gavaskar for his captaincy. Speaking to NDTV recently, Gavaskar said Virat has been magnificent so far but still needs to put in some hard yards in order to attain glory in foreign conditions.

“I would give Virat Kohli’s captaincy a 7 on 10. There are certain areas of improvement. Kohli leads from the front and that is what lifts the confidence of the players. This will give them a belief that they can deliver anywhere, in any conditions”

The captain, who is riding on the form of his life, has been tagged as the best batsman in the world by Michael Clarke and also by England captain Alastair Cook.

“Look at the confidence, look at his balance at the crease, look at the way he shapes up to play every delivery. That just tells you that Kohli will have a very special season. There is no such thing as a perfect batsman, but Virat is getting closer to it. His double hundred in Mumbai was near perfect.”

India will now face England in the fifth Test match at Chennai, starting December 16.
