India and Pakistan will play the group match at the World T20 tournament in Dharamshala for much anticipated match of the tournament said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur . India and Pakistan are in the same group with New Zealand and Australia.
“Looking at the heat generated while the discussion was on whether the series will be held between India and Pakistan, it needed a cooler weather and Dharamsala gives the right atmosphere,” said Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s president Thakur at the launch of the mega event.
“Thodi si thandi jagah honi chahiye jaha pe itna garam match ho (There should be some cold place where such a ‘hot’ match will take place),” quipped the BJP Member of Parliament.
India won the first T20 championship in 2007 while Pakistan won the T20 World Cup in 2009 in England. India and Pakistan have not met in a bilateral series since 2012-13 when Pakistan visited India to play 3 One day Internationals and 2 T20’s.
Both India and Pakistan met in the World Cup 2015 in a league game at Adelaide, Australia. The chances of revival of cricketing ties between these countries for a bilateral series in Sri Lanka are still hanging in the balance.
India and Pakistan have only met in ICC tournaments in the World Cup and T20 tournament. This match in the T20 World Cup will provide excitement to the people. The match will take place on 19th March.
