Dhoni set to enter elite list of wicketkeepers soon 1

Indian skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman M.S. Dhoni is just a step away from becoming just the fourth wicketkeeper to score 10 centuries in ODI cricket. Till now, in 12 years of his international career, Dhoni has played a total of 279 One-days matches in which he has scored 9 centuries. Though this number is quite low but one has to keep in mind that from past many years, he has been playing as low as a number 6 or number 7 batsman in One-day cricket which denies him an opportunity to take his time on crease and score runs.

As a lower order batsman, his responsibility is to just go and play aggressive cricket in the middle out there. His strike in ODI format is self-defining as he poses a healthy strike rate of 89.27. His also possess a healthy average of 51.08 which shows hat he performs his work quite well.

Dhoni has a total of 9 centuries in a total of 242 innings, interestingly his last century came 3 years back today only i.e. October 19 against Australia. Surely, Dhoni may not get enough opportunity to score a century but yes he is the best man for Indian team when the team is stuck in crisis as he always comes to rescue the team from difficult situations.

With a century soon, he will become just fourth wicketkeeper in the history of cricket to score 10 centuries as wicketkeeper-batsman. Adam Gilchrist, Kumar Sangakkara, and Quinton De Kock are only players to achieve this milestone in past.   They have a total of 16, 23 and 11 centuries respectively.
