MS Dhoni’s gloves have fetched 1 crore during the charity event organised by sports website extra time.in.
However, Dhoni is not alone , sportsperson like Tennis legend Leander Paes whose mixed doubles winning racquets was bought by Rs 1.5 crore.
Leander Paes’ request was bought by Bengal Ranji captain Manoj Tiwary, who said the tennis player who is qualified for the Olympics for the seventh consecutive time is ann “for all sportspersons.”
Among other auctioned items are Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri’s jersey, cricketer Ajinkya Rahane’s jersey were also bought at the auction.
The main protagonists, who host this charity event, are die hard Mohun Bagan fan Bapi Majhi, who is suffering from liver cancer and the family of deceased East Bengal supporter Alip Chakraborty.
According to the press release issued by the website, a total amount of Rs, 14 lakh was collected which will be handed over to Majhi and Chakraborty’s families.
“At the age of 42, Leander is still winning Grand Slams. His dedication and hard work are an inspiration for all sportspersons. I love playing tennis during breaks and it would be nice to play with these racquets,” cricket Manoj Tiwary said after purchasing the racquet in the auction.
At the same time, Paes called up Manoj and also promised to meet him some time later this year when he would be coming to Kolkata.
A Pele autographed football was also there which was bought by city-based film producer for Rs 1.10 lakh.
East Bagan and Mohun Bagan are Kolkata biggest pride as they share a great rivalry for a century.
These two clubs followed by millions of fans in West Bengal.
Mohun Bagan in 2014 have shown the I-League and shown great consistency in AFC Cup.
