One of the surprising news in the recent past is the sudden retirement from Ambati Rayudu. The stylish right-handed batsman has done enough to be part of the world cup team, which is playing in England and Wales. But, unfortunately, he was overlooked in the last minute to pick the services of Vijay Shankar.
Then came the surprise from Ambati Rayudu, as he tweeted saying that he just ordered 3D glasses to watch the tournament. Indirectly, it was aimed at the selection panel, who relied their trust on the all-rounder Vijay Shankar.
“We did give a few more chances to Rayudu but Vijay Shankar gives three dimensions. He can bat if the conditions are overcast. He can bowl, plus he is a fielder. We are looking at Vijay Shankar as a No. 4,” MSK Prasad said.

Ambati Rayudu was the prefered number 4 choice:
Despite not being the part of the team, he was named in the standby list. It would help the team to get quick replacement whenever a player gets injured. As expected, the opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan picked up an unfortunate injury, which pushed selectors to seek a replacement.

However, surprisingly, the selectors went with Rishabh Pant, who hardly played at number 4 for the Indian team. Once again, the same scenario repeated when Vijay Shankar picked up an injury.

Much to the surprise, they went with the opening batsman Mayank Agarwal, who is yet to play a single ODI game at the National Level. Perhaps, it has made Ambati Rayudu hurt, who called curtains on his career.
There is a speculation going on that 3D tweet has made selectors go for another option by leaving his name on the desk. A section of people also let their opinions out saying that the tweet on the selectors would have been the main issue behind his world cup snub.
However, whatever the reasons, the retirement of Ambati Rayudu will go down as one of the poor chapters in the Indian Cricket History.
