ToggleWhen India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah announced himself at the International arena, he was labeled as a limited-overs specialist. There were doubts raised whether Bumrah would go on to savor success in the red ball version. However, Bumrah was able to settle the dust when he was able to deliver the goods in the multi-day format.
Subsequently, Bumrah always wanted his prime focus on Test format. The talismanic was finally rewarded for his performances as he made his Test debut in South Africa. The right-arm pacer was able to hit the ground running in the pristine form of the game. Bumrah had a dream start as he scalped 62 wickets in 12 Test matches. The Gujarat pacer started his career with a rank of 83 and he is now placed at the third position in the ICC Test rankings.

Bumrah is a wizard.
“For me, Test cricket was very important and I always wanted to play Test cricket and didn’t want to be a cricketer who has played (only) T20s and ODIs. I gave a lot of importance to Test cricket…I always wanted to make a mark in Test cricket,” Bumrah said at a promotional event here.
Bumrah has taken five five-wicket hauls in his young Test career. The linchpin pacer also took a hat-trick against West Indies in the second Test match. Thus, he became the third Indian bowler after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to take a hat-trick in Test format.
Bumrah has confidence.
“I had the belief that I have done well in first-class cricket, then I could replicate that in Test matches. The journey has just started, just played 12 Tests…when I made my Test debut in South Africa after playing two years of international cricket, it was a dream come true (moment).
“Being there playing in the white jersey was a great feeling and then slowly contributing to team success gave me satisfaction,” the pacer said.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has also developed a deadly outswinger. The fast bowler is generally right on the money and he hardly gives an inch to the batsman. Bumrah stated that he is getting more confidence by playing more Test matches.

“Not mastering it but I always had the out-swinger and not used it, but playing in England gave me a lot of confidence, the duke ball swings for a long time and that gave me a lot of confidence.”
“I became more and more confident as I played more and more Test matches and because of that I was able to execute in Test matches.”
Bumrah will be in action when India will play in the first Test match against South Africa which will be played at Vishakhapatnam from October 2.
