Sri Lanka have suffered a huge blow ahead of the third Test against England. The hosts will be without their skipper and batting mainstay Dinesh Chandimal for the last game of the series. Chandimal will be out of action owing to the groin injury he sustained during the first match.
The right-handed batsman had also missed the second Test after suffering a grade-one tear.

“Dinesh Chandimal, who missed the 2nd test due to an injury will not take part in the 3rd Test match vs England, as he is still recovering from the injury,” an official SLC release stated.
Danushka Gunathilaka will replace Chandimal for the final game of the series, starting November 23 at Colombo. Gunathilaka has played five Tests so far. Charith Asalanka, the uncapped youngster who was called up as cover in the second game, will not be part of the squad for the third game. Roshen Silva had replaced Chandimal in the playing eleven in the last Test and impressed by scoring 85 in the first innings.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will be looking to bounce back and win the last Test. With the series already decided in England’s favour, Sri Lanka will only have pride to play for.
Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal is likely to captain Sri Lanka again. On the other hand, Roshan Silva looks likely to replace Dinesh Chandimal after scoring 122 runs across both innings in the second Test.
