Dinesh Karthik Picks All-Time IPL XI; Regrets Not Picking MS Dhoni 1

Dinesh Karthik has played with as many as six franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Currently, he is at the helm of affairs for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The experienced IPL player has revealed his all-time IPL XI with the condition that he can only pick the players he has played with.

The wicketkeeper-batsman started his journey in IPL with Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) playing for them from 2008 to 2010. He then shifted his base to Mohali and represented Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for only one season. From 2012 to 2013, he played for Mumbai Indians (MI) after which, he again featured in the Delhi-based franchise in 2014.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought him in 2015. He then played for Gujrat Lions from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, he was bought by KKR and had been retained for IPL 2020. Thus, the 34-year-old has a lot of experience playing for different franchises and players.

During the chat with Cricbuzz where Dinesh Karthik picked his all-time IPL XI, he picked up the opening pairing of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, with whom he played at DC and KKR respectively. To Bat at No.3, he picked up the RCB captain Virat Kohli.

For middle order, He has picked up MI captain Rohit Sharma and then placed himself as a wicketkeeper. He has chosen two allrounders, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine, who are his teammates.

DK went with the pace trio of Glenn McGrath, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mitchell Starc in the team having played with them in three different franchises during his distinguished IPL career. RCB’s Yuzvendra Chahal was the only out-and-out spinner to make the cut in the team.

Dinesh Karthik could not pick up MS Dhoni in his team because of the condition of having not played with him. And while talking to Cricbuzz, he admitted that he is regretting not being able to pick the successful captain in his team.
