ToggleIndian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who participated in the World Cup 2019, believes that India will sooner win the World Cup title. India lost the semi-final against New Zealand in the mega event last year.
It is a known fact that the Indian cricket team performs brilliantly in the group stage matches but has failed to go past the semi-final or win the finals in recent years.
I’m sure World Cup title is around the corner: Dinesh Karthik
Last year, similarly, the Men in Blue had been prolific during the group stage matches, losing only one game against England. However, in the semi-final against New Zealand, the top order lost their wicket early, and Virat Kohli-led team lost the match by 18 runs.
Since the 2014 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the side has reached at least the semi-final of every marquee ICC tournament and even advanced to two finals, but has failed to bring the trophy to home. Well, Karthik believes that the Indian team has skills to fight the marquee clash and the time is near when they are going to lift the trophy.
Dinesh Karthik on team effort:

“We’ve always been good at playing big tournaments because I think in the last few years if reaching the semifinals was the yardstick, we’ve hit it every time,” Karthik, who batted at No.5 in that semi-final, said in an online interview with commentator Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz.
“It’s just that we’ve not gone on to go to the final or win the World Cup, but I’m sure it’s around the corner given the kind of skill that we have.”
India has the opportunity to bring the trophy home as ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is lined up in November in Australia. But because of the coronavirus, the event schedule might get affected. And if everything is back to normal than India has higher chance to lift the trophy.
