With the second Test between India and Australia ending inside three days, Dinesh Karthik decided to make the most of the time available to him. The veteran commentator has been plying his trade as a commentator in the ongoing four-match Test series.
And with the Test match coming to an early end, he decided to don the cricketer’s hat once again. The right-handed batsman took the flight to Mumbai after the conclusion of the Delhi Test in order to play a T20 match. The match was a part of the ongoing DY Patil T20 Tournament.
In the Super League fixture against RBI at the DY Patil Cricket Stadium, Dinesh Karthik was at his devastating best. The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed a whirlwind fifty to guide his team to another win. Dinesh Karthik represented DY Patil Group B team against RBI that featured the likes of fast-bowler Ankit Rajpoot and spinner Shahbaz Nadeem.
Rajpoot, Nadeem and their fellow bowling partners, however, could not stop Dinesh Karthik as he smashed 75 off just 38 balls. His knock was studded with 5 fours and 6 sixes. DY Patil Group B were asked to bat first and were 3 down for 66 in the 8th over when Karthik out to bat.
He began cautiously before going all out towards the end of the innings like he usually does. In the 19th over of the innings, he had hit Kuldeep Hooda for three sixes in a row. Thanks to Karthik’s knock, DY Patil Group B finished their innings on 186 for 6.
In reply, the RBI unit could not even get close to the total. They finished their innings on 161 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. The win has helped the team maintain their winning run in the competition and enter the knockouts on a strong note.
