Bollywood director Neeraj Pandey has made a revelation that is going to surprise many. He has directed the much-awaited biopic of Indian skipper MS Dhoni titled ‘M.S.Dhoni-The Untold Story.’ MS Dhoni is the most decorated skipper of the nation and has taken India to unprecedented heights in cricket and is one of the most loved cricketers of the nation.
Very few people are there in the country who can say that they are not a fan of Dhoni and Neeraj Pandey is one of them.
Speaking to Indian Express the director made this bold claim and said that even Dhoni is aware of this fact.
“I am not a fan of Dhoni. I like AB De Villers and Sachin Tendulkar. But I am not a fan of these players as well. Dhoni also knows that I am not his fan,” the director said.
Explaining his reasons for not being a fan, he said: “To put things in perspective, had I been a fan of Dhoni, I wouldn’t have been able to direct the movie in an unbiased fashion. Because I am not a fan, I could remain objective.”
Dhoni’s character in the movie is played by Sushant Singh Rajput and the director said that the actor was always his first choice for the movie.
Praising Sushant, he said: “Sushant was always my first choice. He comes from the same place as that of Dhoni. So he understands the dialect well. He is a keen observer of the game of cricket and above all, he is a brilliant actor.”
The trailer of the movie was a huge hit but one scene created a lot of buzz. In one scene the selectors Dhoni was seen asking the selectors to drop three senior players. When the director was asked about it, he refused to reveal the names and suggested that one should wait for the movie to find out.
The much-awaited movie will hit the theatres on September 30.
