The Number 4 position has been on the headlines in the cricketing world for obvious reasons. In the latest, it is the trouble part of the Kolkata Knight Riders, who got brilliant players in their side to take the role but unfortunately, none is performing for the team. Meanwhile, Andre Russell doesn’t mind in trying his hand at that slot.
Kolkata Knight Riders, who were on a song in the start of the tournament lost their mark in the middle. They have lost all their four previous games, in which, three were on the home soil. Sadly, in all the three games at home, they were on the driver seat but couldn’t travel to the winning area, as something or the other came as a speed-breaker.
It is a sweet and Sour Feeling – Andre Russell
Speaking of the loss, Andre Russell, who scored 65 runs off 25 balls quoted that it is a bitter-sweet moment for him, as the team is losing their way. He feels that the victory is just two hits away for the team. Russell also believes that they have a lot to learn from the loss.
“When you lose cricket games like this, it’s a sweet and sour feeling. The guys tried very hard tonight. Just a four and a six would have taken us over the line. But we have a lot to learn from this game,” Russell told reporters.
The ball was in our court:
Further, he also highlighted the poor batting in the middle overs. Though he hasn’t picked any name, it was the struggling knock of Robin Uthappa, which changed the complexion of the game in the middle overs.
“I’m disappointed to be honest. We lost the game in the middle even though we should have restricted RCB for less than 200. The ball was in our court and we tossed the ball on their side. To lose by 10 runs, its just two hits away. In the middle period, if we scored a bit faster we would definitely get the runs with even balls to spare. Well batted to Nitish, but this is something [of concern].”
You can’t speak about batting slot:
When asked about number 4 position, Russell nodded his head that he would like to bat at that slot. However, he doesn’t want to speak, as it is not in his hands. Russell always wants the team to be flexible enough.
“I believe that but (finger in front of a lip to indicate he cannot speak about it). I think sometimes you have to flexible as a team. We have to go and regroup again, and have meetings about these things and discuss what we need to discuss and what to do at the right time,” Russell said.
All in all, Andre Russell has been the man of the tournament so far. He has been delivering the goods more often than not to make things fall in place for KKR. However, something or the other making his effort go in vain.
