Making his T20 debut during the first of three matches against England, Parvez Rasool would have hoped of making an impressive outing to press his claim in the playing eleven. However, the match turned out to be anything but memorable or impressive one for the Jammu and Kashmir star and his night became even worse after he was involved in a huge controversy.
The 27-year-old was spotted chewing a gum when the national anthem of India was being played before the game.
Here is a clip of that incident:
As expected, Rasool’s attitude towards the national anthem did not go down too well with the fans who took to Twitter to slam the tweaker.
DISAPPOINTED to see Parvez Rasool standing at ease & chewing gum during national anthem. Can wear India jersey, can't sing anthem? #INDvENG

Seems like that chewing gum is more important for Parvez Rasool than our national anthem.

What a shame to see Parvez Rasool refuse to sing National Anthem in Kanpur.Chewing gum instead.Doesn't deserve the national cap.@war_echo?

Parvez Rasool is donning IND jersey, putting his full efforts & standing during national anthem are several positive things to be seen..👍🇮🇳

The Problem is not with Parvez Rasool alone, but the hatred by Kashmiri Muslims against Hindu & India. Born & Taught to disrespect India.

The only possible reason behind Parvez Rasool chewing a gum could be to relieve himself of the ear pain caused by India's national anthem.

Meanwhile, the spinner went wicketless and conceded 32 runs from his overs in Kanpur as Virat Kohli’s men were thrashed by seven wickets by England. The next match of the three-match series will be played on January 29.
