The Mumbai selection committee, led by former India cricketer Raju Kulkarni, has named 35 probable players for the preseason off-season camp ahead of the full domestic season 2023/24. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav Ajinkya Rahane, and Shreyas Iyer are the big guns, named on the probable list for the training camp starting next week.

Mumbai team has one of the best domestic teams in the country as the team has produced enormous talent from the state to play for the country and they have the record of winning the prestigious Ranji trophy for a record 41 times. In the 2022 domestic season, Mumbai overcame Himachal Pradesh in the Eden Gardens to win their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, and Ajinkya Rahane’s participation in the camp is highly unlikely as they would be part of the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval.

2023 IPL winners Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande were named in the probable, as they will look to continue their fine form going the full domestic season for Mumbai starting from Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan would look to put their poor IPL season, behind them to uphill their skills for the forthcoming tournaments, alongside the veteran Dhawal Kulkarni, who will return to the side after having a break during the IPL.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will look to put in a fine performance for Mumbai, this season to impress the selectors to make it into the Indian side. In IPL 2023, the opener has scored 625 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.08 and has hit five half-centuries and one century in the season. The Indian southpaw also achieved his first IPL hundred-124 against MI, which is also the highest score by an uncapped Indian batter in the cash-rich league.

Earlier, Omkar Salvi, who has been working as the assistant bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders for a long time, has been appointed as the head coach of Mumbai’s senior men’s team for the forthcoming domestic season. Salvi was associated as the bowling coach of Mumbai’s team during Chandrakant Pandit’s two years as Mumbai coach in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
