India opener Shubman Gill has hit at critics after being criticised for his strike-rate in One-Day Internationals. The right-handed batsman recently opened the innings for Team India during the three-match ODI series and played a key role in the 3-0 series win. He finished the series as the highest run-scorer and was adjudged the Player of the Series.
But despite the runs tally, he has been facing criticism for not scoring those runs at a quicker pace. Gill finished with 205 runs at a strike-rate of just over 100. He even faced criticism after scoring a career-best 98 not out in the third and final ODI.
The young opener, however, is not too worried with the criticism as he hit back at the critics. The 22-year old said that he does not care about what people say as long as he is contributing in the team’s victories. The right-handed batsman also stated that he has been doing exactly what the team-management wants him to do at the top of the batting order.
“I feel questions will always be raised, but I don’t really care about what people are saying as long as I’m able to contribute to my team’s success, and as long as I am doing what my team management and my captain expect of me,” Shubman Gill The Telegraph.

Shubman Gill further spoke about his displays with the bat in the Caribbean. The youngster said that he is satisfied with how he batted against the West Indies while also expressing his disappointment over not converting the starts in the first two matches into big scores.
I’m pretty satisfied, but having said that, I wasn’t very happy with the way I got out in the first couple of matches. Nonetheless, it was a really good experience for me overall to score those runs in the Caribbean. And yeah, getting those opportunities, too, was helpful,” he said.
