I Don’t Think There Is Any Mystery About MS Dhoni: Matthew Hayden

Mahendra Singh Dhoni might look like the coolest and silent player on the field, but very few know that the World Cup-winning skipper is a different man altogether away from the spot of action.
Dhoni’s former Chennai Super Kings teammate Matthew Hayden has lifted the lid on how the World Cup-winning skipper behaves away from the field. One of the most serious characters on the cricket, Dhoni has ‘retained his sense of passion when he was 7’ according to Hayden.
“I don’t think there is any mystery about MS,” Hayden told Gaurav Kapur on his show “Breakfast with Champions”. “He is a very calm, very simple and very centred individual. When you are like that, everyone goes like – you can’t be like that 24×7. But he is exactly like that.”
“He has got that cheeky humour you probably do not see but it’s all those silly things. He is not going to do all that stand-up comedy act. He is very childlike – he has retained his sense of passion when he was 7. I Love that about his personality,” he said.
Hayden’s former opening partner, Adam Gilchrist has also heaped praise on Dhoni who recently became the first wicketkeeper to affect 100 stumpings in ODIs.
“A few people in Ranchi might disagree with that (tag),”
Gilchrist said on a recent episode of “Breakfast with Champions” when he was told that he was the best wicketkeeper-batsman of all time.
“MS is remarkable with what he has achieved and in a unique personalised way. He has carved out a brand, a business of MS Dhoni and then do all that. (I can only imagine) the expectation and pressure on him,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dhoni, who recently became only the sixth Indian player to play 300 ODIs, has found his form back with the bat. After being under pressure for a good period, he scored an impressive 162 runs which included two match-winning knocks in Sri Lanka and recently played another crucial knock of 79 against Australia in the first ODI of the ongoing five-match series.
