Duleep Trophy Added To Domestic Calendar After Ganguly’s Letter
The prestigious Duleep Trophy tournament has been added to the upcoming domestic season, the same day when Sourav Ganguly announced that he did not know why the tournament was not given a space in domestic calendar despite the Technical committee deciding to organize the tournament in the upcoming season.

It was in the last season when BCCI made a change in the tournament and organized the first-class games with pink balls. The stardom was added to the tournament with Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina leading three teams. The tournament was a great success and it was decided that the experiment will continue for this year as well but when the actual fixtures came, there was no space for the Duleep Trophy.
“I am reading in the media that Duleep Trophy has not or may not take place this season. I don’t know that’s true or not but if you remember, the members of the technical committee had agreed to use pink balls again for the Duleep matches and the tournament was supposed to be held in the same format as last year,” Ganguly wrote to MV Sridhar as per a report in PTI.
On the same day when Ganguly has said about being unaware about non-scheduling of the tournament, the COA has taken a note of it and has restored the first-class tournament,
“The Duleep Trophy has been restored. It will be held and logistics will be worked out. We have told BCCI not to scrap it. It should be there. It is a very prestigious tournament and it should be held. It will be held this season,” COA member Diana Edulji told media.

BCCI now has to make an overhaul change in the domestic fixtures as it is already known that New Zealand A team will tour India for a full fledged series. The tournament has to be scheduled in such a way that top players, mostly of India A, are available for this tournament and also against visiting New Zealand A side.
It is still unknown whether the tournament will be played at the end or the start of the domestic cricket. As of now, the domestic season is slated to start on October 6.
