England limited over captain Eion Morgan decided to talk to ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss. The ECB agreed to tour Bangladesh after security expert Reg Dickason found the stadiums and hotels fully safe for English cricketers, journalist and fans.
The series is comprised of three one-day internationals and two Tests. The tour has come under threat after a terrorist attack in Dhaka, the capital, Bangladesh. Strauss will hold further discussions with Morgan before the touring party is announced on September 16. Players are expected to make a final call over the weakened and they face some pressure since Strauss admitted for the first time yesterday that anyone pulling out risks their place.
Strauss told the BBC Test Match Special:
“A lot of players have probably made up their minds but there are still one or two who want to have further conversations with people and that is fine.”
Morgan’s place could be vulnerable after Bairstow show.
“Eoin has had concerns and has spoken to me and others about those concerns. I will be clear after I have spoken to him tomorrow.”
Test captain Alastair Cook is thought to have committed to the tour.
The series will start from October 7 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, on the outskirt of Dhaka. The second match will also be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium. The third ODI will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city of Bangladesh Chittagong.
The two match Test series will start at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and the second Test will be played She-e-Bangla Stadium, in Mirpur.
