Emraan Hashmi wants to play Yuvraj in cricketer’s biopic
Bollywood hero Emraan Hashmi, who enacted former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin in the film “Azhar”, has revealed that he would love to do a biopic on star performer Yuvraj Singh.
During an online chat with users of Twitter, Emraan was questioned which other cricketer’s biopic would he like to feature in.
He replied quickly: “Yuvraj Singh is a cricketer I would have loved to do a biopic on.”
Yuvraj Singh has been an inspiring figure not only because of his contributions to Indian cricket but also because of his victorious battle against cancer.
To narrate his story and inspire the young generation, the cricket icon even released a book titled, ‘The Test of My Life’ in 2013.
In a recent interview, Yuvi was asked whether he would like to do a biopic.
The 34-year-old all-rounder said, “My priority is cricket for now. Of course, I would love to tell my story through a film but only when I would think of hanging my boots.”
Meanwhile a documentary feature on our 2011 Cricket World Cup hero Yuvraj’s life is being planned and reports indicate that a US-based firm is ready to produce it.
This documentary, which will be produced by Los Angeles-based Apex Entertainment, will not only be chronicling the sportsman’s cricketing career but also be showing light on how he successfully defeated cancer.
In Jannat (2008), the Bollywood hero played the role of a match-fixer and bookie, which exactly suited his louche charm. However, in Azhar, we have seen him at the other end of the transaction, and he worked really hard to make sure his own rehabilitation as an actor.
Despite the movie not been able to scrub the taint off Azharuddin, it goes a long way to prove that Imran Hashmi still can surprise you with a few googlies.
Emraan will next be seen in “Tiger” and “Raaz Reboot”, which will be directed by Danis Tanovic and Vikram Bhatt respectively. Asked to comment on “Raaz Reboot”, he said: “The film is releasing this September… We are trying to take the horror quotient up by ‘Raaz 3’.”
